This directory contains the assembled sequence for the Jan. 2003
update of the rat genome (rn2, Jan. 2003) in separate files for
each chromosome in a zipped Fasta format. This assembly was
provided by the Rat Genome Sequencing Consortium and was produced
at the Baylor College of Medicine. For more information on the rat
genome, see the Baylor Rat Genome Project website at
http://www.hgsc.bcm.tmc.edu/.
Files included in this directory:
- chr*.fa.zip: compressed FASTA sequence of each chromosome.
Repeats from RepeatMasker and Tandem Repeats Finder (with period
of 12 or less) are shown in lower case; non-repeating sequence is
shown in upper case. RepeatMasker June 2003 version with RepBase
libraries: RepBase Update 8.4, RM database version 20030619

If you plan to download a large file or multiple files from this
directory, we recommend that you use ftp rather than downloading the
files via our website. To do so, ftp to hgdownload.cse.ucsc.edu, then
go to the directory goldenPath/rnJan2003/chromosomes. To download
multiple files, use the "mget" command:
mget <filename1> <filename2> ...

mget -a (to download all the files in the directory)
All the files in this directory are freely available for any purpose.
