The downloadable datasets available here were generated in order to provide biological validation 
for transcription factor binding sites identified using ChIP-seq by the ENCODE/Stanford/Yale/USC/Harvard production group (also referred to as SYDH).  
Generally, these experiments involve transfection of an ENCODE cell line with an shRNA expression
construct  from the Open Biosystems TRIPZ inducible lentiviral shRNAmir collection or 4 pooled siRNAs
from the Dharmacon ON-TARGETplus SMARTpool collection targeting a transcription factor.  
Changes in gene expression relative to a control transfection were measured either using 
Illumina microarray (shRNA transfections) or RNA-seq (siRNA transfections). Fold changes in gene expression for all interrogated 
transcripts are presented for each experiment.  Where available, links are provided to the corresponding ChIP-seq experiment in the same cell line,
although some experiments are still in progress or failed to meet our quality standards and were not submitted.  
An integrated analysis of this data is currently being prepared for publication, but this data is available to all users according to the ENCODE data release policy.
