The files in this directory support the whole-genome ENCODE wiggle tracks from
the ENCODE pilot project phase.
This is the actual data used to create the wiggle tracks, and has the original 
data precision.

The wiggle data format is described at: 
http://genome.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/help/wiggle.html

Note: the chromosome coordinates given are 1-relative coordinates. The first 
nucleotide on a chromosome is numbered 1.

If you would like to extract data from these files, the following utilities from
the source code may be useful: wigEncode, hgWiggle.

The Genome Browser software is free for academic, nonprofit, and personal use. 
A license is required for commercial use.

that you use ftp rather than downloading the files via our website. To do so: 
    ftp hgdownload.cse.ucsc.edu 
    user name: anonymous
    password: <your email address>
    go to the directory goldenPath/hg18/pilot/wgEncode/wig

To download multiple files from the UNIX command line, use the "mget" command. 
    mget <filename1> <filename2> ...
    - or -
    mget -a (to download all the files in the directory) 
Use the "prompt" command to toggle the interactive mode if you do not want 
to be prompted for each file that you download.
